K-pop sensation boy group, BTS, released their first album of 2019, Map of the Soul: Persona on April 12. On the same day the group dropped the much anticipated music video for the song "Boy With Luv" featuring Halsey.
The album quickly rose on music charts all over the globe and is expected to hit #1 on Billboard's Top 200 chart. "Boy With Luv" reportedly shot up to #1 on six of the major realtime Korean music charts.
While BTS was dominating music charts everywhere with Map of the Soul: Persona the music video for "Boy With Luv" was gaining views exponentially on YouTube. Within 24 hours "Boy With Luv" recorded 74.6 million views, breaking the YouTube record for most views within 24 hours. Previously held by the latest release of K-pop girl group Blackpink, "Kill This Love".
BTS appeared on April 13's episode of Saturday Night Live to perform "Boy With Luv" for the first time and their hit song "Mic Drop", making BTS the first Korean musical group to appear on SNL. After they finished performing it was announced that BTS and Halsey will be taking the stage together at this years Billboard Music Awards to perform "Boy With Luv" on May 1.
Along with all of this success from their new album BTS hit another huge milestone by becoming the first ever Asian artist to surpass 5 billion streams on Spotify.
